Get Outside

Kayaking & Paddle Boarding
Discover Pipes Cove from the water. Rent a kayak or paddle board for your entire stay or take a guided tour with one of our local partners.
Bocce ball
Our bocce court is adjacent to Eddie’s. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer and see why bocce ball has become one of our guests’ favorite family-friendly activities.
Bike rides
There’s no better way to explore Greenport’s charming streets than on two wheels. All guests at Silver Sands enjoy complimentary bicycles.
Hiking
The North Fork’s mature trees, meadows and mix of fresh and saltwater wetlands provide for some of the most scenic trails on Long Island. Many are just steps away from Silver Sands.
Bird Watching
Silver Sands is a birder’s paradise. Find shorebirds, such as piping plover, terns, osprey, and a variety of waterfowl steps away from your room. Or wander through the surrounding woods where you may find warblers, hawks, and owls.
Do Nothing
"Dolce far niente," an Italian phrase translating to the "sweetness of doing nothing," embodies our way of life at Silver Sands. It's a celebration of leisure, where time seems to stand still, allowing one to indulge in the simple joys of being alive.

Oysters
Silver Sands is blessed to have its own oyster farm in the pristine waters of Pipes Cove. Take your bivalve appreciation to a whole new level with our friends and partners at Oysterponds Shellfish Company. Enjoy guided tours of the farm or organize a shucking class for an unforgettable hands-on experience. Great for kids and adults alike.

Sailing
Discover the Wonders of the North Fork by sea. Escape the bustle and enjoy stunning views of Shelter Island. Anchor for a swim, relax and enjoy a picnic onboard, or head out to the open ocean.
Departing from Pipes Cove, set off on a private sailing excursion with Captain Liz aboard Layla, a Fastnet 45 built to the highest standards for ocean cruising at the respected Dutch yard of Adolf LeComte. Alternate between sailing, exploring the water and relaxing in the sun. A picnic basket specially prepared by our team at Silver Sands will be given to you on departure.

Fishing
Fish the waters from Riverhead to Orient to Montauk and everything in between targeting striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, and false albacore on light tackle and fly with one of our local captains.
Enjoy private, customized fishing excursions in Peconic Bay with Captain Rob. Head out on the bay for a couple hours of spectacular fluking or take an all-day charter to Montauk Point to chase the elusive Striped Bass. Perfect for families or expert anglers alike. Let us pack you a picnic so you can bring back your catch to our chefs who will cook you a meal to remember
